Each year Luther goes up against over 30 other colleges and universities from around the country to conserve the most energy and water. It is also a competition between Luther's own residence halls, and the winning hall receives a monetary award. This competition starts in late February and lasts a few weeks.
In 2010, Luther took 17th place out of 36 with an energy savings of 4.1% and 5th out of 17 with a water savings of 4.1%. Ylvisaker came in first among the Luther residence halls and won $1,000. In just 20 days we saved a total of 7,014 kilowatt-hours, 57,777 gallons of water, and 13,629 pounds of CO2!

For one weekend in March, Luther hosts the Oneota Film Festival. Featured films relate to adventure, eco travel, local and student films, food/agriculture, social justice, and the environment.
