On September 28th and 29th, David Gonzalez, a nationally acclaimed storyteller, poet, and musician will be on campus for an artist's residency: The Power of Your Own Story. David's stories, music and more will be featured in a public performance on Friday night, September 28th in Jewell Theatre in the Center for the Arts at 7:30 pm, with storytelling workshops for students, faculty/staff and the general public to follow on Saturday morning and afternoon.
Saturday's workshops include The Power of Your Own Story (9 am - 11 am), participants will learn how to use their own personal narrative to create change through dynamic storytelling. Participants will craft a compelling and effective personal narrative based on their own life experiences. In the afternoon, David will conduct a second workshop, From Page to Stage (3 pm - 4:15 pm), that will focus on skills and strategies to help bring the written word to life on stage.
Saturday night, in conjunction with Arthaus and the Luther College Writer's Festival, Luther will host a Story Slam, in Jewell Theatre at 7:00. The Story Slam will feature David Gonzalez along with participants from the storytelling workshops, writer's festival and the general public.
All workshops are free and open to all faculty/staff, students, and the general public.
