First-Generation Faculty and Staff

Luther College has an exceptional history of serving first-generation college students. At least 20 percent of the students in an incoming class typically are first-generation students. Student Life is building a registry of faculty and staff who were first-generation students. For those interested in serving as a resource for students, you would be identified on a first-generation resource webpage. Further, if you wish, a 250-word reflection can be included with the your listing.

First-generation status is determined by a student’s response on their Luther College application. If students respond “no” to the question “Did either of your parents graduate from a four-year college?” they are identified as a first-generation student. Likewise, on the Common Application, if a student responds that their parents have less than a bachelor’s degree, they are identified as a first-generation student.

If you would like to be identified in the registry, please complete the form below. We welcome your interest in this initiative.
