Luther moved into a two-way tie for third place in the American Rivers Conference after defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University 3-1 tonight in Lincoln, Neb. The win was the second in a row for the Norse. Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-22.
Karissa Kime and Emma Veum led a Norse attack that produced 57 kills in the four-set match. Kime tallied a match high 24 and Veum was credited with 16. Katie Shabatura, who led the team with five total blocks, was next with seven kills. Sam Sixta dished out 47 assists, while Natalie Cote recorded a career high 25 digs for a four-set match.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 4-2, 13-14 overall. Nebraska Wesleyan fell to 1-5 in league play, 7-13 overall.
Tomorrow afternoon the Norse will travel to Buena Vista University for a match that is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Beavers are also 4-2 in league play after defeating Coe College tonight 3-1.
