It was the final regular season match of the year and Iowa Conference Tournament seeds were on the line. Luther earned the No. 2 seed for the six-team tournament thanks to a 3-1 victory over Loras College tonight. The Norse won set one 25-19. Loras leveled the match winning set two 25-22. Luther secured the victory posting wins of 25-16, 25-17 in sets three and four respectively.
Emma Veum led a trio of Norse that tallied double digit kill totals. Veum produced a match-high 14 and had an attack percentage of .458. Anna Larson was next with 13 and Karissa Kime was credited with 12. Morgan Towne was one kills shy of double figures with nine.
Sam Sixta dished out 49 assists and also led the team with five ace serves.
Kime and Larson both produced a double-doubles. Kime had 15 digs and Larson had 13. Natalie Cote tied Kime for the team lead in this category with 15 digs of her own.
The victory gives Luther an Iowa Conference mark of 6-2, 16-9 overall. The Norse have now won three in a row. Tonight's win, combined with Wartburg sweeping the University of Dubuque, secured the No. 2 seed for the Norse who will receive a first round bye. The quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The semifinals and championship matches will be held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Friday, Nov. 3-4.
