The Luther College Volleyball Team Has Been Picked to Finish Second in the Iowa Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

The Iowa Conference Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll has been released and Luther College has been picked to finish second. The Norse received 52 points and finished behind Wartburg College that received seven first place votes en route to 63 points. Coe College 48 pts) and Nebraska Wesleyan (44 pts) were picked third and fourth.

Head Coach Danielle Lynch, who begins her seventh season, returns four starters from a team that posted an overall record of 21-8, her best season as a head coach. 

Top returners for the Norse include senior middle blocker Katie Sabutura (Apple Valley, Minn.), junior outside hitter Anna Larson (Edina, Minn.), junior middle blocker Emma Veum (Eagan, Minn./Eastview) and sophomore setter Sam Sixta (Altoone, Iowa/Southeast Polk). Shabatura and Veum were both 2016 all-conference selections. Veum finished the 2016 campaign with 251 kills, while Shabatura led the team with 116 total blocks and was also credited with 199 kills. Larson recorded 250 kills and Sixta recorded 960 assists and also led the squad with 46 ace serves.
