Luther remains unbeaten in Iowa Conference play after defeating Wartburg College 8-1 this morning in Waverly, Iowa. The Norse are now 6-0 in league play, 6-1 overall.
After jumping out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play, the Norse won four of six singles matches in straight sets. Ashley Rottinghaus recorded Wartburg's lone point at No. 2 singles, defeating Claire Christian in a hard-fought three set match 4-6, 6-2, 10-4.
Jackie Cychosz improved to 4-2 in conference play defeating Hannah Fox at No. 1 (6-2, 7-5(5)). Britta Pressler remained undefeated in league action and is now 4-0 after posting a straight set win at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0). Devon Bourget won at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0) and Kelsey Kruse improved to 5-1 after defeating Gabby Olejniczak at No. 5 (6-3, 6-1). Ellie Hemker won in three sets at No. 6 (6-1, 0-6, 6-2) over Sydney Powers.
Luther wraps up the Iowa Conference schedule one week from today. The Norse will play at Simpson College at 9:00 a.m. and then travel to Central College for a match that is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. If the Norse win both matches, they will be crowned Iowa Conference champions for the second year in a row.
