Stay positive, work hard and have fun. Play tennis because you have fun and enjoy it! Through all the practices and matches that you participate in, know that you can walk away with one take away from each. There is always something you can improve or change in your game. Each opponent you play brings something different to the court and you learn from each of your experiences. Stay positive! Your teammates, your partners and you will appreciate the positive vibe you bring to everyone around you! It's contagious. —Linnea Benson '95

Why did you choose Luther?

I was looking for a small liberal arts college which allowed me to pursue tennis. Luther had a well-established and competitive tennis team. I knew from the get go that I would be able to balance sports and academics. The two, along with other activities, made for a well rounded college experience.

What are you up to now?

I worked in the corporate world as an accountant until I had children. I now stay home and manage the house and kids. I have continued to play tennis since college at a competitive level. I love the competition and the sport!

Tell us about your doubles partners.

I played my junior and senior years with Dana Johnson Koth (1996). We had fun together on and off the court. We worked hard in practice as a doubles team and as a whole team. Dana and I played at the national level and finished our career together as the 5th ranked doubles team in the national at the D3 level.

What are some favorite memories?

There are so many! Fabulous spring break trips, trips to nationals, early morning practices, a great coach that was extremely committed to her team and the school (Su Oertel), the friendships from my teammates (our team was small and close), I could go on and on...
