The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released the Oracle/ITA Division III 2020 final national and regional rankings.
The Luther College doubles team of junior Devon Bourget (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and sophomore Shelby Cook (Cedar Rapids, IA/Kennedy) finished the COVID-19 shortened year ranked No. 13 in the Central Region.
The duo finished the year with a record of 16-2. They helped lead Luther to the American Rivers Conference championship, posting an record of 8-0 during the fall schedule. The conference title was a league leading 29th in school history and third in the past four years.
At the A-R-C individual tournament, Bourget and Cook defeated teammates senior Kelsey Kruse (Decorah, IA) and freshman Lexi Hastings (Menominie, WI) 8-6 to claim the league's doubles title.
Both Bourget and Cook were named all-conference in both singles and doubles, and Bourget was also named the league's MVP, becoming the 17th player in Luther history to earn MVP honors and the first since 2009.
When COVID-19 forced the NCAA III to canceled all spring sports schedules, Luther had posted a dual meet record of 10-2.
