Devon Bourget Named A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week

The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College junior Devon Bourget has been named the Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019. This is the second time this year she has been so honored.

Last week, Bourget was crowned the champion in Flight A singles and Flight a doubles at the A-R-C Individual Tournament held Oct. 11-12.

As the No. 1 seed in singles, Bourget posted a record of 4-0 en route to her title. She defeated Olivia Phillips of Wartburg (6-0, 6-1) in the first round; Ella White of Coe (6-1, 6-0)in the quarterfinals; Emily King of Simpson (6-1, 6-0) in the semfinals; and defeated teammate Shelby Cook (1-6, 6-1, 10-2) in the championship match.

In doubles, Bourget and Cook were the No. 1 seed and won three matches after receiving a first round bye. The duo defeated Kailey Jay-Kissler/Brooke Sailer of Nebraska Wesleyan University (8-1) in the quarterfinals; Hannah Fox/Madi Overmann of Wartburg (8-1) in the semifinals; and defeated Luther teammates Kelsey Kruse/Lexi Hastings (8-6) in the championship match.

She wrapped up the fall schedule with a singles record of 13-3 and 15-1 in doubles. All of her doubles matches were played with Cook.
