The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College senior Britta Pressler (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) has been named the league's women's tennis player of the week for the week ending Sunday, April 28. This is the second time she has been so honored during her career.
Pressler helped lead Luther to the A-R-C Automatic Qualifier Tournament title and its first trip to the national tournament since 2010 this past weekend. The Norse defeated Coe College 5-0 in the semifinals and went on to defeat regular season champions Wartburg College 5-3 in the championship match.
She posted a record of 4-0, winning two matches in singles and two in doubles. In singles she defeated Coe's Isabella Hoppenjans at No. 2 (6-1, 6-0) in the semifinals and followed that performance with a victory over Wartburg's Hannah Fox at No. 2 (6-0, 6-3) in the championship match.
She teamed with freshman Shelby Cook (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) at No. 1 doubles and the duo defeated Coe's Lauren French and Hoppenjans (8-2) and Wartburg's Ashley Rottinghaus and Sydney Rottinghaus (8-4).
Luther will enter the NCAA III National Tournament with an overall record of 15-8.
