Seven Women Tennis Players Earn ITA Scholar Athlete Recognition

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its team and individual academic awards for the 2018-19 school year.

For the 19th year in a row, Luther was recognized as an ITA All-Academic team and seven student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner; have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the 2018-19 academic year; and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).

The seven student-athletes named ITA Scholar Athletes included senior Britta Pressler (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial); junior Ellie Hemker (Winona, Minn./Winona Senior); sophomores Stephanie Almquist (Delano, Minn.), Hope Gray (West Point, Iowa/Fort Madison) and Anna Spencer (Decorah, Iowa); freshman Shelby Cook (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and Megan Grimm (Swisher, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Prairie).
