Luther kicked off the Iowa Conference schedule with a sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan University 9-2, 10-0 (5) in Lincoln.
In game one, Bailey Victoria led a Luther attack that produced 13 hits. Victoria was 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. She drove in two runs in the first inning with a double and two more in the third on her first home run of the year.
Sara Nelson and Anna Strien also had multiple hit games. Nelson was 2-for-4 in the lead-off slot and Strien was 3-for-4.
Samantha Bratland (10-1) went the distance in the circle. Bratland allowed two runs on six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six.
In game two, Luther scored three runs in the first three frames en route to its 14th win in a row. the Norse pounded out 13 hits with the top of the order doing most of the damage. Ashley Burrows went 4-for-4 in the lead-off slot. She was followed by Nelson who was 2-for-4 and Strien who was 2-for-2. Megan Bonnett also tallied multiple hits going 2-for-3.
Annie Versnik (10-1) allowed one hit in four innings of work. Versnik faced 14 batters, walked one and struck out one. Lilly Johnson pitched the final inning and retired all three batters she faced.
Luther is now 20-2. Nebraska Wesleyan fell to 13-9.
Luther's next double header will be at home on Wednesday, April 5 when it will host UW-La Crosse. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
