The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College sophomore pitcher Kendra Cooper (Lansing, Iowa/Kee High) has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 1, 2020. This is the first time of her career she has been so honored.
Cooper helped the Norse go 4-0 during the opening weekend at the Rochester Regional Dome, Rochester, Minn. She picked up three wins in the circle, while throwing 16 innings and only allowing two earned runs and striking out eight.
Friday, Feb. 28, she led Luther to a 6-3 victory over Macalester College (MN). She threw a complete game, giving up only four hits and two earned runs while striking out four and holding the Scots to a .174 average.
Sunday, March 1, she allowed five hits and no runs as the Norse defeated UW-Platteville 8-2. She was handed the ball in game two in the top of the fourth frame with Luther leading 3-2. She pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two en route to the victory.
Cooper is now 3-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.88.
