The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced the 2018 all-conference team. Luther had two players listed on the first team, one on the second team and one was named honorable mention.
Named first-team all-conference for the second year in a row was senior short stop Anna Strien (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Waterloo Columbus) and junior pitcher Samantha Bratland (Spring Grove, Minn.). Second team honors were presented to Ashley Burrows (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar).
Strien and Burrows become the seventh and eighth players in Luther history to be named all-conference four times. In overall games entering the NCAA III National Tournament, Strien is ranked in the top-five in seven different categories in the Iowa Conference statistics. She is ranked first for batting average (.468), first for on-base percentage (.580), first for walks (21), second in RBI (40), third for doubles (16) and runs scored (42) and fourth for slugging percentage (.718). Burrows is ranked 11th for batting average (.412) and is tied for the league lead in runs scored (48).
Bratland becomes the 11th Luther player to earn all-conference three times. In Iowa Conference games only, Bratland led the league with an ERA of 0.78. In 54 innings of work, she allowed six earned runs, walked 16 and struck out 49, while posting a record of 6-2. Entering the national tournament, Bratland is 21-4 with an ERA of 1.42.
Stockman was ranked first for RBI (41) and fourth for doubles (14). Entering the national tournament she is batting .352. She has also been very steady at first-base, recording a fielding percentage of .993 committing just two errors in 289 opportunities.
