The Division III National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced the 25 players that remain in the mix for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year award. Among those is Luther senior shortstop Anna Strien.
Strien, a 2017 first team NFCA All-American, having another outstanding season for the Norse. Entering the final week of regular season play, Strien is batting .460 with 35 RBI. She is one RBI shy of setting a new Luther career record in this category. She currently has driven in 160 runs. She is also one double shy of tying the school career record, she has 51, that includes 12 this season.
Last year, Strien batted .531 and led the NCAA III with 66 RBI. She was a first-team NFCA All-American at shortstop. She was also named the Iowa Conference Player of the Year and was named all-Midwest Region for a second time.
