Anna Strien Named CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America

The 2017 Division III Academic All-America® Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), has announced the first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees. There were 11 first-team, 12 second-team and 11 third-team selections. Luther junior Anna Strien has been named to the second team.  With this honor, Strien becomes the 68th Luther student-athlete to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-America®.

The CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.

Twenty of this year’s 34 members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® softball teams have a 3.90 or better G.P.A., with six achieving a perfect 4.00 G.P.A.

Strien, a junior short stop, helped lead nationally ranked Luther to a final record of 41-5. Prior to this honor, she was named the Iowa Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was also a first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) first-team all-Midwest Region selection.

Academically, she is a two-time NFCA Scholar All-American and two-time Iowa Conference Spring Sports All-Academic Team honoree.

Strien is a Political Science major who has accumulated a grade point average of 3.70. She is the daughter of Todd Strien of Williamston, Michigan.
