Luther College claimed its third consecutive Iowa Conference championship sweeping Simpson College 11-3 (6) and 7-4 on Saturday, April 29. The two wins gave the Norse a regular season record of 15-1.
The league title was the fifth in the past seven years for the Norse and 10th in school history. It is also the sixth under the direction of four-time Iowa Conference Coach of the Year Renae Hartl.
During this seven-year stretch, Luther has posted a league record of 86-14. The Norse were 11-1 (2016)*, 12-0 (2015)*, 10-4 (2014), 9-5 (2013), 15-1 (2012)* and 14-2 (2011)*.
Luther, currently ranked No. 4 in the NFCA Top-25 National Poll, will enter post season play with a record of 37-3. The Norse have been ranked in the top-10 the entire year and has extended their string of consecutive weeks ranked in the top-25 to 50. Since 2009, Luther has been ranked in the top-25 110 of the last 113 weeks.
As the regular season champion, Luther will host the single elimination Iowa Conference Tournament May 5-6.
