Women's Soccer Team Picked Fourth in A-R-C Preseason Poll

The American Rivers Conference has released the 2019 preseason women's soccer coaches' poll. Luther College was picked to finish fourth. Loras College was picked to finish first (coaches do not vote on their own team), followed by Wartburg College and the University of Dubuque.

Luther Head Coach Russ Schouweiler, who enters his 10th season, returns six starters from last year's team that finished third in the conference with a mark of 6-2-0. During his tenure he has posted a career record of 90-67-12, 45-28-4 in conference action. In 2016, the Norse shared the conference title with Loras and qualified for the school's first trip to the NCAA III National Tournament.

Top returners for the Norse include 2018 all-conference goalkeeper junior Kennedy Bergren (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and 2017 all-conference selection senior midfielder Maggie Anderson (St. Peter, Minn.).

Luther begins the 2019 campaign in Norfolk, Virginia where it will play Virginia Wesleyan University and Christopher Newport University on back-to-back days Aug. 30-31. The Norse will begin their home schedule on Sept. 8 when they will host the College of St. Benedict at 3:00 p.m.
