The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College sophomore Kennedy Bergren (Mahtomedi, Minn.) has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018. This is the first time of her career she has been so honored.
Bergren helped lead Luther to a 1-0 regular season victory over the University of Dubuque and 1-0 victory over Coe College in round one of the A-R-C Tournament. She made five saves against Dubuque, including a penalty kick in the 52nd minute that kept the match from going into overtime and was credited with three saves in the Coe victory.
The two shutouts increased her consecutive shutout total to three and season total to seven. Her goals-against-average after 17 matches is 0.94.
The win over Coe advanced Luther to the semifinals of the conference tournament for the 21st time in the 23-year history of the tournament.
