Russ Schouweiler

Head Coach

  • The 2016 campaign will be Coach Schouweiler's seventh year as head coach
  • 2005 Graduate of Luther College
  • 2013 Iowa Conference Co-Coach of the Year
  • Has led the Norse to over 60 wins since taking over the program, including a 14-win season in 2014 and a 13-win year in 2015
  • During his tenure he has led the Norse to the semifinals of the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament five times
  • Four-year letter winner while at Luther who played on two conference championship and two national tournament teams, including an Elite 8 appearance in 2001
  • Took over Norse program after serving two years as an assistant women's coach at Macalester College
  • Prior to his duties at Macalester, he was the girls head coach at Simley High School from 2005-08, where his teams were consistently ranked in the top-10 in Minnesota Class 3A and 4A
  • From 2002-10 he was asenior coach for the St. Croix Soccer Club reaching the Minnesota State Cup Finals in 2007 and 2009 and the semifinals in 2008 as well as three straight indoor league championships from 2007-09.
  • From 2004-05 he was the Decorah High School head boys coach and led the Vikings to a 15-5 record and a fourth place finish at the state tournament

Molly Ford

Assistant Coach

  • 2016 will be Coach Ford's second year as an assistant coach
  • 2013 Graduate of Luther College
  • Joined Luther coaching staff from Presentation College where she was the Assistant Director of Admissions
  • Three-year letter winner while playing for the Norse who also served as team captain
  • Member of Luther's 2009 Iowa Conference championship team
  • While at Luther coached Decorah United Soccer Club U10-U12 Girls
  • Played her high school soccer at Appleton West High School
  • Named all-conference and served as team captain for two years

Julie Shockey Trytten

Assistant Coach

  • 2000 Graduate of Luther College
  • Begins her 16th year as an assistant coach
  • Along with helping with the soccer program she is Luther's Coordinator of Campus News
  • Four-year letter winner during her playing days for the Norse

James Garcia-Prats

Assistant Coach

  • 2014 graduate of Luther College - B.A. - Sociology
  • The 2016 campaign will be James' first year as assistant coach for both the women's and men's programs
  • During his collegiate career he made 79 appearances while helping lead Norse to two Iowa Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament
  • Tallied 13 goals and 22 assists during his career
  • Two-time NCAA III All-American at midfield
  • Three-time all-Iowa Conference selection
  • Three-time all-Region selection
  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholar
  • Also serves as Decorah High School Boys Head Soccer Coach in the spring
