Wartburg College hosted its Fall Invitational, a 36-hole tournament at Prairie Links Golf Course located in Waverly, Iowa. Seventeen teams participated in the tournament in what proved to be the strongest field of the season.
St. Catherine University won the team title posting a two-day total of 602. Carleton College was second six stroke behind at 608. University of St. Thomas completed the top-three with a 610. Luther finished in 14th place shooting 654.
Individually, Morgan Kranz had another good weekend, posting a top-10 finish. Kranz shot rounds of 74-75-149 on the Par 72 links style course, and finished in a two-way tie for 10th place. Kranz was the highest finisher of any of the American Rivers Conference golfers in the field. She finished seven strokes behind Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton College, Claudia Kim of St. Thomas, and Kristin Miyagi of Carleton that all tied for medalist honors at 142.
Completing the Norse five and where they finished included Sydney Maule (T63rd - 165), Kelly Schultz (T86th - 173), Alayna Eichstadt (T91st - 176) and Maddy Wemore (T97th - 181). There were 107 golfers in the field.
Next weekend, Luther will play in the D3 Classic that will be hosted by Carleton College. The 36-hole tournament will be played at the Emerald Green Golf Course, Hastings, Minn. The two-day tournament will be held Sept. 14-15.
