Jane Hildebrand Named Interim Head Coach - Morgan McMillan Named Assistant Coach

Luther College Director of Athletics Renae Hartl has announced that she has named retired Luther College head women’s basketball coach Jane Hildebrand ’74 and Morgan McMillan as women’s golf coaches. Hildebrand will serve as the interim head coach, while McMillan has been hired as an assistant coach. The duo replaces Eric Karius who recently resigned as head coach.

“Luther holds a special place in my heart and I am looking forward to the opportunity to return and serve Luther athletics,” stated Hildebrand. “Since my retirement three years ago and eight years ago as the head basketball coach, I have missed the contact with the students. I am excited to meet the women on the team and assist them throughout the fall season and this time of transition. With seven returning letter winners that includes five that played in last year’s conference championship and two that earned all-conference honors, we will set our sights on contending for the conference title again this fall.”

Since graduating from Wartburg College in 2015, McMillan has been the Assistant Manager and PGA Apprentice at Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah, Luther’s home course.

During her time at Wartburg, the 2011 graduate of Waukon High School, earned all-Iowa Conference honors three times, placing ninth (2011), second (2013) and third (2014) at the conference championships. She also earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-Midwest region honors as a senior. She helped lead Wartburg to four conference championships and four trips to the NCAA III National Tournament.
