Yarrow Pasche

Head Coach

  • Named Director of Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Sept. 19, 2019
  • 2019 will be Yarrow's second year as head coach and 15th year coaching the women's cross country team
  • January of 2018 she was promoted to head coach after serving as associate head coach for 14 years
  • First Recipient of Kent Finanger Endowed Chair
  • 2000 graduate of Macalester College - B.A. International Studies
  • Graduate of NCAA Women's Coaches Academy
  • Three-Times she has been named women's conference Coach of the Year after the Norse won league titles in 2006, 2007 and 2010
  • Also named Region Coach of the Year after Norse captured Central Region Titles in 2007 and 2010
  • Has helped lead Norse to seven appearances at the NCAA III National Championships placing 11th in 2006, 10th in 2007, 7th in 2008, 6th in 2010, 23rd in 2011, and 27th in 2013
  • Six-time All-American in cross country and track while a student-athlete at Claremont-McKenna College and Macalester College
  • Also serves as the distance coach for the Norse track and field team
  • Joined the Luther staff following two years as an assistant at Williams College (Mass.), where the women's team won the national title in 2004

Scott Mittman

Assistant Coach

  • 2019 will be Scott's third year as an assistant coach
  • 2014 graduate of Luther College
  • 2017 MS Mathematics from Northern Arizona University
  • During his cross country career he was a two-time all-Iowa Conference performer 2010 and 2013
  • He also earned all-region honors his senior year
  • Ran in top seven on Luther teams that qualified for the NCAA III National Championships in 2010 and 2013
  • Two-time IIAC outdoor track championships all-conference performer in the 5000 finishing first (2011) and second (2012)
  • Three-time IIAC indoor track championships all-conference in the 3,000
  • Three-time Iowa Conference Fall Sports All-Academic Team
  • Three-time Iowa Conference Spring Sports All-Academic Team
  • Also serves as an assistant coach for the track and field team

Duncan McLean

Assistant Coach

    • 2019 will be Duncan's second year as an assistant coach
    • He has degrees in Exercise Science (Northern Michigan University), Human Performance and Physical Therapy (UW-La Crosse)
    • He was an assistant for boy's cross country and distance track athletes at Dowling Catholic High School for Head Coach Tim Ives (2013-17)
    • Dowling Catholic captured Iowa 4A cross country championships (2015, 2016) and Roy Griak Invitational title (2015)
    • Head Coach of Northern Michigan University Nordic Ski Team and led them to a National Collegiate Ski Association team relay title (1983)
    • He was a member of the U.S. Nordic Ski Team (1980-83); competed in six U.S. National Ski Championships, one Olympic Trial, five overseas Worldloppet races, and 37 (and counting) American Birkebeiners
    • 1980 U.S. National Nordic Ski Championship overall champion
    • Winner of first two Korteloppets; 1976 American Birkebeiner Citizen champion and 1980 American Birkebeiner top American
    • He continues to promote participation in quieter sports as he has for years in clinics, presentations and events throughout the Midwest
