Luther started its 2018 campaign hosting the 46th All-American Invitational this afternoon in almost perfect conditions. Eight teams ran in the women's college division and Luther finished fourth with 116 points. Iowa Central won the team title with 19 points, followed by the University of St. Thomas with 51 and Loras College was third with 84.
Abeba Sullivan of Iowa Central won the individual title covering the 5K track with a time of 18:39. Teammates Winrose Chesang (18:46) and Marion Bartilol (18:47) finished second and third.
Luther's top-seven runners was led by Kat Hoffman who placed 21st overall from the field of 105 runners with a mark of 20:27. Vera Lindhorst was right behind her in 22nd place (20:36). Heather Hostager (28th - 20:50), Amelia Morrow (31st - 21:03) and Amelia Hornseth (34th - 21:16) completed the top-five. Katie Fetting (35th - 21:17) and Emmy Buntrock (36th - 21:18) rounded out the top seven.
Luther's next action will be on Friday, Sept. 28 when they will compete in the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. This race will take place at Whitetail Golf Course, Colfax, Wis. Start time is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
