Nebraska Wesleyan University made it two in a row as the Prairie Wolves captured the 2017 Iowa Conference cross country championships. NWU posted a team total of 35 points and was followed by host Wartburg College with 47 and Luther with 80.
Luther has now placed third or higher at the Iowa Conference Championships since 1990, a string of 28 consecutive years.
McKenzie Carney and Anna Ryden paced the Norse earning all-conference honors by finishing in the top-15 from the field of 131 competitors.
Carney made Luther history by becoming the eighth runner to earn all-conference honors four times. Carney finished second this afternoon, covering the 6K Max Championships Cross Country course located on the campus of Wartburg College, in a time of 22:36. During her career, Carney finished 12th (2014), 11th (2015) and 10th (2016).
Ryden also earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. Ryden placed fifth with a time of 22:45. Last year, she finished 13th.
The next varsity race for the Norse will be two weeks from today when Carleton College will host the NCAA III Central Regional on Saturday, Nov. 11. Race time for the women is slated for Noon.
