Carleton College hosted its annual Running of the Cows Invitational this morning in Northfield, Minn. This was a preview of the NCAA III Central Regional that the Knights will host Nov. 11.
Nationally ranked No. 10 Carleton breezed to the team title posting 28 points. University of St. Thomas, ranked No. 5 in the Central Region was second with 74. Gustavus Adolphus ranked No. 8 was third with 96 and was followed by No. 6 Grinnell College with 128 and Luther with 146.
Individually, McKenzie Carney covered the 6K course in 22:44 and placed fourth overall from the field of 116 runners. Carleton's Meg Mathison (22:08.4) edged teammate Emily Kaegi (22:08.8) for first place.
Completing the Norse scorers were Anna Ryden (13th - 22:23), Kat Hoffman (49th (37) - 24:33), Vera Lindhorst (59th (44) - 24:45) and Amelia Hornseth (65th (48) - 24:52). Ananda Easley (85th - 25:20) and Anna Restemayer (87th - 25:22) were Luther's sixth and seventh runners to cross the finish line.
The Norse will be off for two weeks before they will compete in the UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational. This meet will be held at the Ettrick Golf Course, Ettrick, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 14. Start time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
