The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced that Luther senior McKenzie Carney has been named the league's Runner of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 15.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, Luther participated in the 37th Annual UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational. The 6K race was held on the Ettrick Golf Course, Ettrick, Wis.
Carney was the highest finishing Iowa Conference athlete from a field of 298 competitors. Carney placed tenth with a time of 22:38.
Carney, a three-time all-Iowa Conference performer, is the first Luther runner to be named the league's Runner of the Week since Nov. 1, 2015.
Following a home dual with UW-La Crosse on Friday, Oct. 20, Luther will travel to Waverly, Iowa for the 2017 Iowa Conference Championships. The championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28.
