Luther wrapped up the regular season posting an 83-68 decision over Central College this afternoon in the Regents Center. Twelve different players scored for the Norse. Luther took the lead for good in this game with a little over six minutes left in the first quarter. The Norse jumped out to a 43-26 halftime time lead, after blistering the nets for 51.6% (16-31). The Norse played unselfish basketball throughout the 40 minutes of action recording 21 assists.
Anna Madrigal led the attack with 18 points. Katie Waller tallied 15 and Laura Hamilton was next with nine. The Norse dominated the boards 48-27. Anna Edel led the team in this category with a career high seven.
Central was led by Claire Marburger who poured in a game high 30 points and also led the Dutch with eight rebounds.
The win gives Luther a regular season record of 12-4 in the Iowa Conference, 16-9 overall. Central finished its season with a mark of 2-14 in league play, 9-16 overall.
Luther will be the No. 2 seed for the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. The Norse will host the winner of the No. 3 seed Loras College vs. No. 6 seed Nebraska Wesleyan University game that will take place at Loras on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
