Luther rolled to a 96-84 victory over Mounty Mercy University (9-9) this afternoon in Cedar Rapids in the final tune up before Iowa Conference play begins next week.
The Norse held a 45-30 halftime advantage and led by as many as 25 points with a little over four minutes remaining. The Norse defense forced the Mustangs into 23 turnovers that led to 17 points. Luther also set a single game school record with 14 three-point buckets.
Meagan Koepnick, who missed just four attempts the entire afternoon, poured in a game and career high 28 points. Koepnick was 9-of-13 that included a 4-of-8 performance from behind the arch. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Kylie Romeo and Anna Madrigal completed the list of double digit scorers with 18 and 12 respectively. Syney Rehnelt was two points shy of joining this group chipping in eight points off the bench in 15 minutes of play. Moran Lonning dished out seven of Luther's 21 assists.
The win was the seventh in a row for the Norse who will enter league play on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Wartburg College with an overall record of 10-1. Start time in Waverly is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
