Luther Women's Basketball Team Picked Fourth in American Rivers Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll

The American Rivers Conference has released the 2019-20 preseason coaches' poll and Luther College has been picked to finish fourth.

After claiming regular season and conference tournament championships the past three seasons, Wartburg College is the coaches' pick to win the 2019-20 American Rivers Conference title. The Knights earned 63 points in the poll, recording seven of the nine first-place votes. Loras College, who finished runner-up a season ago and last claimed a regular season conference title in 2013-14, finished second in the poll with 58 points and two first-place votes. Simpson College was third with 49 and Luther finished with 41 points. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Head Coach Amanda Bailey, who enters her ninth season, returns 10 letter winners from last year's squad that finished fourth in the A-R-C with a record of 10-6. The Norse will be led by two-time all-conference and defensive player of the year senior Laura Hamilton (Minnetonka, Minn./Chanhassen) and 2019 second-team all-conference honoree senior Sarah Holtz (Austin, Minn./Pacelli Catholic).

Other key returners include seniors Maggie Anderson (St. Peter, Minn.), Madilyn Heinke (Seymour, Wis.) and Madison Spence (Glenwood Springs, Colo.).

Luther begins the 2019-20 campaign at the Hyatt Place Tournament hosted by Augustana-Rock Island Nov. 8-9.
