Luther Picked To Finish Second in IIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Luther College has been picked to finish second in the 2017-18 Iowa Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Head Coach Amanda Bailey, who has compiled a record of 90-69 in six seasons, returns nine letter winners and four starters from last year's squad that finished second in the IIAC with a mark of 12-4, 17-10 overall. 

The Norse return five of their six top point producers from a year ago, led by first-team all-Iowa Conference selection Katie Waller. Waller led the team in scoring with 355 points. Laura Hamilton, an honorable mention selection a year ago, finished third on the team with 252 points and dished out a team best 95 assists. Madison Spence (232 pts), Sarah Holtz (222 pts), Grayson Schroeder (153 pts) and Madilyn Heinke (121 pts) complete the list.

Added to the mix is Central College transfer Claire Marburger. Marburger was a first-team all-conference selection a year ago, who led the league in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per game. 

Defending Iowa Conference champions Wartburg College was picked to repeat. Loras College was picked third and Coe College fourth.

Luther will begin the 2017-18 campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 15, when it will host Macalester College at 6:00 p.m.
