Moran Lonning Named All-West Region has released the 2016 all-region teams and Luther senior point guard Moran Lonning has been named to the All-West Region as a first team honoree. This is the second time in as many seasons she has been so honored.

Earlier this year, Lonning was been named the Iowa Conference Most Valuable Player, becoming the first repeat MVP since Katie Maguire of Buena Vista in 2004-05 and 2005-06. It is the fifth time a Luther women’s basketball players has been named MVP.

Lonning averaged a team high 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.6 steals per game while starting all 27 games. She stepped up her play in league action averaging 13.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.1 steals per game and helped lead Luther to the Iowa Conference Championship. Her 62 assists and 44 steals were both league highs.

In addition to leading the league in assists and steals, she ranked second in free throw percentage (85.4), second in three-point field goal percentage (44.6), third in assist to turnover ratio (1.7), sixth in scoring (13.9), eighth in three-pointers made (29), and tenth in field goal percentage (45.5). Lonning helped lead Luther to the 2015-16 Iowa Conference regular season championship, the school's first since 2007. Luther's season came to an end in the league's tournament championship game and it finished with a record of 20-6.
