Luther traveled to Augsburg College for the annual Auggie-Adidas Invitational today in St. Paul, Minn. No team scores were kept. Three divisions were contested, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with Gold being the top tier of the three.
Gold Division: Three Norse placed in the Gold Division led by Keenan Feldpausch (285) who finished third. Feldpausch improved to 6-3 on the year that included a fall (2:12) in the third place match over Andrew Petersen of Southwest Minnesota State.
In the opening round, Feldpausch defeated Chris Zimmer (6-0), then defeated Triston Westerlund of Upper Iowa University (5-2), before being eliminated from the championship side of the bracket by Konrad Ernst of UW-La Crosse (3-2) in the semifinals.
Connor Murphy (125) placed fifth, posting a record of 3-1, that included one fall. Murphy's fall came in the opening round over Michael Owen of Buena Vista University (2:08). After dropping a (4-1) decision to Nelson Baker of UW-La Crosse, Murphy defeated Ryan Schmalen of Upper Iowa University (7-5) and Brian Maas of Iowa Lakes CC (13-8) in the fifth place match.
Billy Poray (165) captured the consolation championship. Poray was 3-1 on the afternoon, defeating Shane Vaughan of Buena Vista University (1-0) in the consolation championship. He also defeated Logan Schlough of UW-La Crosse (6-3) and Kegan Fingalsen of Southwest Minnesota State (3-1).
Silver Division: Two Norse placed in the Silver Division.
Kyle Clough (133) improved to 7-2 for the year finishing second. Clough was 3-1 this afternoon with one fall. He was defeated by Chase Katzenmeyer of UW-Platteville in the title match (5-1). He opened the tournament with a fall (1:14) over Tristan Jenny of UW-La Crosse, then defeated Noah Bauer of Rochester Community College (5-3), and Tracy Davis of Iowa Lakes Community College (5-3) in the semifinals.
Dakotah Daffinson (285) captured the consolation championship. Daffinson posted a record of 3-1 that included two falls and one major decision. He is now 7-2 for the year. After losing his opening round match by fall (2:47) to Omar Begic of Wartburg College, Daffinson won by fall in his next two matches. He pinned Davroy Atkinson of William Penn University (0:14) and Holden Miller of Central College (1:18). In the consolation championship match, he defeated Austin Benton of UW-Platteville (11-2).
Bronze Division: Isaiah Mitchell placed third at 165. Mitchell was 2-1 for the afternoon that included a fall (4:48) in his opening round match over Dylan Comstock of William Penn University. In the semifinals he was defeated (11-7) by Tyler Denmark of UW-Platteville, then defeated Bryon Boleyn of Upper Iowa University (5-3) in the third place match.
