In the final tune-up before the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships next weekend, Luther placed fifth of eight teams at the University of Dubuque Invitational.
UW-Platteville won the team title with 166 points. Dubuque was third with 126, followed by Augustana-Rock Island with 113. Luther tallied 41 points.
Headlining today's top finishes for the Norse was Nana Asante-Apeautu in the 55 meters and Patrick Larson in the Mile. Both placed third in their respective events. Asante-Apeautu matched his career best time of 6.69 in the 55 finals, while Larson posted a time of 4:26.38.
Larson led a foursome of Norse that placed in the top eight of the Mile and combined for 12 points towards the team total. Collin Kern, that placed fourth in the 800 (2:00.02), led a three Norse that placed in the top eight of this event and tallied nine points.
The 4 x 200 of Asante-Apeautu, Cooper Nelson, Noah Goetzke and Maxwell Tapp placed fourth (1:35.63). The 4 x 400 of Tapp, Nelson, Andrew Millan and Kern placed sixth (3:34.21).
Dubuque will host the two-day Iowa Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 24-25. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
