The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced that the Luther College men’s track field team has been named a 2020 All-Academic Team. There were over 150 NCAA III track and field programs that earned this award.
To earn this award, a team’s entire roster must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.10 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Luther’s team GPA was 3.20.
It was also announced that seniors Collin Kern (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and Andrew Millan (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), sophomore Zach Mohler (Glendale, Ariz./Barry Goldwater), and freshman Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors. A total of 325 men from 107 institutions were presented this award for the 2020 track & field season.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
1) Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who were accepted into the Indoor National Championship, are eligible
2) Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who were accepted in the relay at the Indoor National Championship (alternates are excluded), are eligible.
3) Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
