Luther Names Steve and Yarrow Pasche Directors of Track & Field and Cross Country

Luther College Director of Athletics, Renae Hartl, has announced that Steve Pasche and Yarrow Pasche have accepted the positions of Director of Track & Field and Cross Country for the men’s and women’s teams respectively.

“What an exciting time to be a part of the Luther College track and field and cross-country programs!” said Hartl. “The college has really committed to growing and succeeding in track and field by naming Steve and Yarrow as directors. This gives us a new structure to hire full-time coaches for sprints and field events that will give our student-athletes the best experience possible. Steve and Yarrow are both ready for this elevated challenge and I know that they will bring these four important programs together with a high-level of synergy and stability.”

Steve and Yarrow are in the midst of their 15th year as head coaches of the Luther cross country teams. They have led the men’s team to five conference titles and five appearances at the NCAA III National Championships. The women have won three conference titles, two regional titles and made seven appearances in the national championships. Steve has been named Conference Coach of the Year five times and Yarrow three times. Yarrow was also named Region Coach of the Year twice. During their tenure, both Steve and Yarrow have been assistant coaches for the track and field programs.

“It is a complete honor to accept this new role,” said Steve. “Luther track and field has had a rich history of top tier teams and winning individuals. I believe we will be able to assemble the athletes that will allow our programs to achieve that success. Part of the legacy of Luther track and field is the holistic investment in the well being and personal growth of our student-athletes. This will continue to be a unifying vision for both programs. Our hearts are in the experience and journey of our student-athletes. When our students, parents and alums are proud of our successes, and even more importantly, the style in which we accomplish it, we are doing good things for our students and the program.”

“I am honored and humbled to join in the long legacy of women’s track and field head coaches,” said Yarrow. “My greatest inspiration is working with student-athletes as they strive for their goals both in sport and in life. I am excited to continue to do this, now in an even bigger way. I would like to say thank you to President Ward and Renae for their leadership, tremendous support and vision for these four programs to build and succeed in huge ways. Let’s get going!"

The new positions were announced following the resignation of Steven Fleagle who accepted a position at Boston University as an assistant coach.
