Luther completed its trip to Dubuque, Iowa with an 8-1 victory over Loras College this afternoon. The Norse swept singles play and took two of three doubles matches to secure the victory.
Cole Schneider and Brian Murman teamed for an (8-1) victory at No. 1 doubles and are now 1-1 for the year. Grant Morton and Brook Norwood improved to 10-4 for the year after posting an (8-5) victory at No. 2.
Five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets. Cole Schneider posted a (6-2, 6-2) victory at No. 1 and improved his season record to 10-5. Morton is now 9-5 for the year winning at No. 2 (6-3, 6-3). Norwood is also 10-5 after securing a victory at No. 4 (6-1, 6-3). Jake Smith, who is now 14-3, was victorious (6-2, 6-2 at No. 5. Cam Long, returning to his hometown, won at No. 6 (6-1, 6-3). Murman won a hard fought three-set match at No. 3 (6-7, 6-4, 11-9) and is now 9-6.
The win gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record of 4-0, 10-2 overall. The Norse have now won six matches in a row.
Luther returns to action this Saturday, April 6 when it will travel to Carleton College. This non-conference match will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
