Luther's nine-match win streak came to an end today as the Norse were defeated by NAIA Loyola-New Orleans 5-4. Luther won two of three doubles matches and two singles matches.
In doubles, Anders Jensen and Nate Parsons defeated Ernesto de Diego and Alex Depascual (8-5) at No. 1. Brian Murman and Cole Schneider gave the Norse a 2-0 lead defeating Sean Presti and Tiger Cheung (8-4) at No. 2.
Three of the six singles matches were decided in a third set. Grant Morton posted a straight set victory at No. 1 over Galileo Cabrales (6-2, 6-3). Schneider won one of the three set matches at No. 2. He defeated Presti (6-7, 7-6, 10-8). Jensen and Murman lost hard fought matches in three sets. Jensen was defeated by Diego (2-6, 6-4, 8-10) and Murman was defeated by Joseph Short (6-3, 2-6, 4-10).
Luther will return home with an overall record of 11-2. The Norse will return to action on April 6, when they will face the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire in Winona, Minn. Start time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
