Luther ran its string of consecutive victories to eight, defeating Buena Vista University 8-1 this afternoon in Storm Lake. The Norse swept doubles play and won five of six singles matches to secure their second conference win against no losses.

In doubles, Kenny Goins and Jake Smith posted an 8-5 win at No. 1. Sam Buffington and Brian Murman won 8-3 and No. 2 and Cam Long and Brendan Londergan posted an 8-1 win at No. 3.

All five of Luther's win in singles were in straight sets. Anders Jensen at No. 2, defeated Jesse Brace (6-4, 6-3). Murman at No. 3, posted a (6-3, 6-0) win over Aaron Pluym. Smith won (6-1, 6-0) at No. 4 over Will Connelly. Long dropped just two games at No. 5, defeating Aaron Mumm (6-1, 6-1) at No. 5. Ryan Kucera swept Andrew Boell (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6.

Habermann and Trent Schneider had to go to a third-set tie breaker to decide the outcome at No. 1. Habermann won (6-4, 2-6, 10-7).

The win gives Luther an overall record of 12-2. Buena Vista fell to 2-14, 0-4 in the IIAC.

Tomorrow, Luther travels to Lincoln, Nebraska to face Nebraska Wesleyan University for the first time in league play. Following that match the Norse hop over to Omaha, Nebraska and will play Creighton University.
