Luther remained unbeaten thanks to a 5-4 victory over St. Olaf College this afternoon at the Owatonna Tennis Center. After jumping out to a 3-2 lead at the conclusion of doubles, the Norse and Oles split 3-3 in singles.

Anders Jensen and Trent Schneider posted an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles, defeating Gus Fedje-Johnson and Sam Hohenshell. Kenny Goins and Jake Smith won at No. 3 over Kevin Kalbus and Corey Loken 8-3.

Three of the singles matches were decided in a third set tie breaker, all won by St. Olaf. Kyle Appel, Schneider and Nate Parsons won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. Jensen lost to Hohenshell at No. 3 (3-6, 6-2, 14-12). Brian Murman was defeated at No. 5 by Loken (4-6, 7-5, 13-11). Cam Long lost to Christopher Prokosch at No. 6 (6-4, 2-6, 12-10).

Box Score

The win gives Luther an overall record of 4-0. The Norse return to action March 4-5. On the 4th Luther will face St. Scholastica at Lifetime Fitness Center, White Bear Lake, Minn., at 3:30 p.m. The next day, Luther will meet UW-La Crosse for a match at the Winona Tennis Center, Winona, Minn., at 2:30 p.m.
