Rhoads joins the Norse tennis coaching staff from Ames High School where he served as the head tennis coach for both the boys and girls teams since 2016. He also served as the sports information director.
During his tenure, he led the girls team to a 55-7 dual meet record and to four consecutive trips to the Iowa State Tennis Team Tournament. His teams advanced to the quarterfinals in 2016, semifinals in 2017 and finals in 2018 and 2019, capturing the state title in 2019.
His final two years at Ames High School, he was also the head coach of boys tennis, and posted a dual meet record of 23-7. The Little Cyclones captured two district championships and also advanced to the Iowa State Team Tournament quarterfinals both years.
Following the 2019 campaigns, he was named the Des Moines Register Coach of the Year and the National Federation of High Schools Tennis Coach of the Year.
A 2014 graduate of the University of Iowa, Rhoads was a four-year member of the Hawkeyes swimming and diving team. His senior year, he qualified for the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships and was named the Hawkeyes team MVP. He also qualified for the U.S.A Olympic Trials in 2012 and 2016.
Prior to being named the head coach for the Ames High School boys and girls tennis programs, Rhoads served as an assistant boys swimming coach at Ankeny High School (2018-19) and assistant coach for both boys and girls at Ames High School (2015-17).
