The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released the Oracle/ITA Division III 2020 final national and regional rankings.
The Luther College duo of junior Cole Schneider (Coralville, Iowa/Iowa City West) and sophomore Nyathi Motlojoa (Lesothoa, South Africa/Grey College) finished the COVID-19 shortened year ranked No. 7 in the Central Region.
Luther had played 11 matches posting an overall record of 7-4, 2-0 in the American Rivers Conference, before all NCAA III spring sports were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Schneider and Motlojoa finished the year with a record of 16-4. They started the fall schedule with a second place finish at the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament. One week later, they were the runner-ups at the 2019 ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, Sept. 27-30. The runner-up finish qualified them for a trip to the 2019 ITA Cup played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, Rome, Georgia, Oct. 17-20, where they posted a record of 1-2.
