The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that Luther College freshman Cole Schneider has been named the league's men's tennis performer of the week for the week ending Sunday, March 18, 2018. This is the second time he has been so honored this year.
Schneider helped lead Luther to 5-4 victories over both Carthage College and Wheaton College on Saturday, March 17. He posted a record of 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles with playing partner Brian Murman. The two wins increased Luther's overall record to 7-1.
In singles he defeated Lukasz Jaworski of Carthage 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 and secured the team win against Wheaton with a three set victory over Jeremiah Yi 6-4, 6-7, 7-6.
In doubles Murman and Schneider defeated Lukasz Jaworski and John Nykyforuk of Carthage 8-5, and lost to Anderson Park and Jark Wenzel of Wheaton by the same score.
Schneider is now 10-2 in singles play and 9-1 in doubles.
