No. 14 Luther scored twice in the first half and once in the second en route to a 3-0 victory over the University of Dubuque tonight in Dubuque. The Spartans entered this game undefeated in American Rivers Conference play and fell to 4-1. Luther's win was its fourth in the last five matches and improved to 3-2 in league play, 10-3-1 overall.
Ben Keller and Colin Hughes provided the fire power for the Norse attack. Keller scored his ninth and tenth goals of the year, while Hughes scored his fourth goal and dished out one assist. Keller scored the game winner at 21:46 assisted by Hughes (4). Just before the end of the first half, Hughes gave the Norse a 2-0 lead in the 42nd minute unassisted. Keller scored his second goal of the night 37 seconds into the final frame assisted by Will Overberg (5).
Dubuque out shot Luther 15-10 and both teams placed four shots on goal. Norse keepers Carson Davenport and Fred Nudel each played a half and were both credited with two saves.
Luther will host Nebraska Wesleyan University this Saturday, Oct. 19. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
