Luther defeated Central College this afternoon in Pella, Iowa by a final of 2-0. The victory moved Luther into sole possession of second place in the American Rivers Conference standings, two points behind league leader Loras College and one point ahead of Central.
Following a scoreless first half, Rafael Broseghini and Teo Jube both scored their third goals of the week. Broseghini drove in the game winner unassisted at 54:25 and Jube scored the insurance goal unassisted at 69:30.
Broseghini, who scored a goal against Macalester Monday night and Coe Wednesday night, scored his fifth of the season this afternoon. Jube scored twice against Coe Wednesday and today's goal was his fourth of the year.
Carson Davenport stopped all three shots on goal he faced and posted his fourth shut out of the year.
The victory gives Luther an A-R-C record of 5-1-1, 13-3-1 overall. Central fell to 5-2 in league play, 8-7 overall.
Luther will complete the regular season schedule at home against the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
