Luther clinched at least a share of the Iowa Conference regular season championship this afternoon, defeating Central College 3-2. The title is the first for the Norse since 2013 and ninth in school history.
The Norse battled back twice in the match to secure the victory. Trailing 1-0 early in the second half, Rafael Broseghini leveled the score with his fourth goal of the season at 58:48, assisted by Colin Hughes (1).
Central took a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Benjamin Keller answered four minutes later with his ninth goal of the year at 76:03 assisted by Broseghini (5).
Brunno Colon scored his second game winner of the year on a penalty kick at 74:37. Colon's goal was his eighth.
The Norse dominated this match out shooting the Dutch 22-7 and had 10 shots on goal.
The win keeps Luther atop the Iowa Conference standings with a record of 6-1, 10-4-3 overall. Central fell to 3-4 in league play, 10-5 overall.
Luther wraps up the regular season at University of Dubuque on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. If the Norse defeat or play to a draw Tuesday they will claim the IIAC title outright.
