Luther matched its highest goal total for a single match this season, defeating Coe College tonight in Cedar Rapids 5-1. Back on Sept. 10, the Norse defeated St. Scholastica by this same score in Decorah. The victory also increased Luther's unbeaten streak to four matches and kept the Norse atop the Iowa Conference standings with a mark of 5-1.
Brunno Colon, who was named the Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the Week on Monday, had a monster night. Colon scored two goals and dished out two assists. Colon scored the first and final Norse goals at 3:59 and 64:10 respectively.
Ben Keller also tallied two goals increasing his season total to eight. Keller scored the game winner at 27:42 and gave the Norse a 3-1 advantage with his second goal of the night at 56:47.
Ahmed Osman, who was named the Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, produced his first goal of the season at 59:28.
The Norse were credited with 23 shots of which 12 were on goal. Coe had two shots the entire 90 minutes of play.
Luther is now 9-4-2 overall. Coe fell to 0-6 in the IIAC, 3-11 overall.
Luther will wrap up its regular season schedule this Saturday, Oct. 21 when it will host Central College at 3:30 p.m.
