Colorado College defeated No. 23 Luther 2-1 tonight in the season opener for both teams. The Tigers did all of their damage in the first 45 minutes of action scoring goals in the 10th and 33rd minutes.The win gives Colorado a 4-1 advantage in the series that dates back to 1994. Tonight was the first meeting between these two teams since 1998.
Luther pulled to within a goal early in the second half thanks to a goal by Tyler Pieper (1) at 49:26 assisted by Victor Machado (1).
The Norse applied plenty of pressure in the second frame, out shooting the Tigers 7-1 and also had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Luther returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 3 when it will host Washington-St. Louis. Start time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
