In a battle between two regionally ranked teams, UW-Platteville's Chris Brown scored the game winner unassisted in the 103rd minute, leading the Pioneers to a 1-0 victory over Luther. The overtime loss was the first for the Norse this season. Luther finished 1-1 in two overtimes with both St. John's University and Nebraska Wesleyan University in September.
Platteville entered this non-conference match ranked fourth in the North Region by both the NSCAA and the NCAA, while Luther was ranked eighth by the NSCAA and seventh in the NCAA regional poll.
Tommy Breen went the distance in front of the nets for the Norse and turned away three shots on goal. Saul Rosales and Oket Dakwa-Agyekum were both credited with a shot on goal.
The loss drops Luther's overall record to 8-5-2. Platteville improved to 12-2-1.
The Norse travel to Coe College this Saturday, Oct. 20 for an Iowa Conference match that is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Both teams enter this match with a league record of 2-3 and both teams are battling to make the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament that begins Oct. 27. This match will be video streamed by the Coe College Sports Information Department.
